Why Join?

PRCA gives plenty of ways for members to meet PR peers, exchange ideas, and become more involved in the organization and community.

Networking
Monthly luncheons, professional workshops, annual conferences and social events give members many opportunities to share and grow.

Professional Development
Meetings, workshops and annual conferences showcase engaging, informative speakers talking about topics of interest to all levels of PR professionals.
Plus, we strive to host at least one local professional development workshop each year and the state hosts at least one workshop open to all PRCA members. Workshops are open to non-members, but PRCA members usually receive a discounted rate.

Online Statewide Membership Directory

Become a member and get access to the real-time statewide membership directory on the web.  It is just one part of several other sections of the state website's members only area. to access, go to PRCA Online, click on the Members Only tab to the left, and use your login information.

Recognition

At our annual state conference, PRCA recognizes our members’ best work with Medallion Awards.  The regional Southern Public Relations Federation also honors members with Lantern Awards.

Leadership

North Alabama chapter needs seventeen leaders to fill the board each year.  The state PRCA organization has ten more opportunities for leadership.  Special events like the state conference and community service projects give other opportunities to serve.

Code of Ethics
All members of PRCA have agreed to abide by a Code of Ethics and do their part to uphold and further the state of the public relations profession. Go to the SPRF web site to review the Code of Ethics.

Accreditation
Once meeting a few simple criteria, members can take a nationally recognized, universal accreditation exam -- that means more recognition and often, more pay.  Find out more at the SPRF site on accreditation. Accredited members are designated by the initials “APR” after their names.

Community Service
PRCA often selects local non-profit organizations to receive free public relations assistance with promotional campaigns, event planning, media relations, communication material and communication strategy. We do not provide fundraising support.
