Gary McCormick and his team use research, pay attention to trends, and leverage all relationships to drive show content and related strategy on their networks like DIY and Fine Living.  His presentation at the membership meeting in February was abbreviated but still bursting with practical advice.  One takeaway to the audience about pitching stories to the media:  "Know the producers, not the talent."  See his slides.
