Community Service

Holiday Project:  Wrapping Gifts for HELPline

December 12, 2006 -- Members gave of their time to help with a community service project to wrap gifts for the Crisis Services Center of North Alabama on December 12.

HELPline is Crisis Services' 24 hours-a-day source for emotional first aid, information, and referrals for people who need help.  Hundreds of volunteers man booths at the local malls and wrap gifts from early December through Christmas Eve to lend a hand in HELPline's most important fundraiser of the year.

NAPRCA took on the task December 12 at Parkway Place, sporting new PRCA Service tee-shirts.

If you'd still like to purchase a tee-shirt, you'll be ready for the next service project, and a portion of your $12 will go toward the Michael K. Simmons scholarship fund.  Contact Rosa Kilpatrick if you're interested in the next reorder.

Part of PRCA's mission is to support the community through the use of our members' public relations skills. The North Alabama chapter attempts to achieve this part of our mission on several levels.

Community Service Projects:
Each year PRCA sponsors projects that benefits non-profit organizations in the community.

Student Mentoring:
The professional chapter sponsors two local student chapters at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and the University of North Alabama (UNA).

Each spring we award a student a $1,000 scholarship. Applications available.
