PRCA Mission

The mission of the Public Relations Council of Alabama is to promote the ethical practice of public relations among professional practitioners and students, provide for the professional development of members, foster understanding within the community regarding the practice of public relations, and support the community through the use of members' skills.

Objectives and Tactics

Like any successful organization, we have a well-laid PR plan. As part of that plan, PRCA has several objectives we strive to achieve. Here is a list of our objectives and the concrete tactics we employ to achieve those objectives.

Objectives

Tactics

Promote professional development

Each month we host a public relations related speaker at our monthly meetings. We also offer nationwide (universal) accreditation (designated by APR). PRCA recognizes outstanding work with the Practitioner of the Year Award and Medallion Awards.

Represent member interests

PR Week in October promotes the professionalism of public relations practitioners.

Provide forums for continuing education

We regularly host professional development workshops, produce local informational publications, and host an annual conference.

Promote PR education through student chapters

We sponsor two student chapters at UAH and UNA, as well as offer a yearly scholarship.

Encourage self-improvement

Members may serve the community through our annual community projects. Our local Board of Directors also offers 16 leadership positions.

Unite practitioners with similar interests

Every PRCA event is a professional networking opportunity, and our membership directory gives members a complete listing of their peers.

Exchange experiences and ideas through contacts

PRCA hosts an annual conference complete with workshops and seminars. Many of our monthly meeting and our workshops encourage interaction between members.

Promote high standards of service and ethical conduct

At the annual conference, outstanding professional work is recognized with Medallion Awards. Members agree to abide by a Code of Ethics www.sprf.org/code_ethics/code.htm
when they become members.
