  The North Alabama Chapter Membership

The North Alabama Chapter was established in 1973 and has become one of the most active chapters in the state.

  • We have approximately 80 active members representing dozens of organizations, including corporations, non-profit organizations, government and educational institutions, media, PR firms and freelance professionals.
  • Winner of the "Chapter of the Year" Award 6 times in the 1990s
  • Over the last 10 years, seven North Alabama members have received the Philip R. Forrest Practitioner of the Year Award, our state-wide organization's highest honor. Click for a list of the last 10 Practitioner of the Year winners.

The Regional PRCA Organization

The North Alabama chapter is part of a state-wide organization that was originally established in 1956. PRCA is made up of six chapters:

Birmingham Chapter

Montgomery Chapter

Mobile Chapter

Layer 2Layer 3Layer 4 West Alabama Chapter (Tuscaloosa)

East Alabama Chapter (Auburn)

North Alabama Chapter (Huntsville)
   

Our SPRF Affiliation

PRCA is affiliated with another regional organization called The Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) which has 900 members in four states.

SPRF includes:

  • The Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA)
  • The Public Relations Association of Louisiana (PRAL)
  • The Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM)
  • The Emerald Coast Chapter

All PRCA members are automatically members of SPRF. SPRF holds an annual conference and recognizes outstanding work with Lantern Awards. SPRF is also the organization that allows PRCA members to participate in the universal accreditation (APR) process administered by PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) in New York.
